Justin Timberlake hints at long-awaited comeback with single 'Selfish' from his highly anticipated new album after a 5-year hiatus

Justin Timberlake Releases New Song and Video

Grammy Award-winning artist Justin Timberlake has unveiled a new song and accompanying video titled “Selfish.” This release serves as a teaser for his upcoming album, Everything I Thought It Was, which marks his return to the music scene after a five-year hiatus.

A Meta Video Concept

The video for “Selfish” showcases Timberlake’s trial-and-error approach to creating the visual experience. Within hours of its launch on YouTube, the video had already garnered close to 300,000 views. The 42-year-old artist first performed the single live at a concert in Memphis, his hometown, just five days ago. During the performance, he playfully acknowledged his attire, a gray suit, saying, “We didn’t get dressed up for nothing, did we?”

A Break from the Limelight

Timberlake’s previous album, Man of the Woods, topped the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2018, boasting the highest first-week sales at that time. Since then, he has taken a step back from the pop music scene, collaborating with artists such as SZA and Pharrell Williams, contributing to movie soundtracks, and briefly reuniting with his 1990s boyband NSYNC, which launched his music career.

Fan Excitement

On social media, fans expressed their enthusiasm for Timberlake’s new single. One fan, Brittany Edwards, wrote, “I’m so happy he did a sweet ballad. I’ve been missing those. It sounds like it could’ve been an NSYNC song honestly. This will be on repeat.”
