Michigan and Washington to Play in National College Football Championship
The Michigan Wolverines and the Washington Huskies will face off in this year’s national college football championship after winning their semifinal games on Monday. Michigan secured a 27-20 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl, with quarterback J.J. McCarthy throwing three touchdown passes to Blake Corum, Tyler Morris, and Roman Wilson. Corum also ran for a touchdown in overtime. Kicker James Turner successfully completed three of four extra-point kicks.
Michigan has reached the semifinals for the past three years but has not won a championship since 1997. On the other hand, the Washington Huskies, who are also undefeated, defeated the Texas Longhorns 37-31 in the Sugar Bowl. Running back Dillon Johnson scored two touchdowns, and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw two touchdown passes to Jalen McMillan and Ja’Lynn Polk. Kicker Grady Gross contributed with extra points and three field goals.

The national championship game will take place in Houston on Monday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET. ESPN will broadcast the highly anticipated match.
